President Biden on Wednesday made the false claim that five Capitol police officers were killed in the January 6, 2021 riots.
Biden made the remarks in a speech on how his administration is planning on ‘Building A Better America.’
The President began by suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “counting on” being able to divide America.
“We’re not perfect — we’re not even close — but we never have walked away,” he said. “And Vladimir Putin was counting on being able to split up the United States.”
President Biden followed up those remarks with misinformation about the Capitol riot.

Biden’s Lie About Five Police Officers Killed at Capitol Riot
President Biden’s head-scratching invocation of the Capitol riot in explaining Putin’s actions turned into falsehoods.
He put it into the context of a similar event happening at other government buildings of reverence throughout the world.
“Look, how would you feel if you saw crowds storm and break down the doors of the British Parliament, kill five cops, injure 145 — or the German Bundestag or the Italian Parliament?” he asked those in attendance. “I think you’d wonder.”
“Five cops” were not killed on January 6 during the Capitol riot. Zero cops were killed, yet some Democrats seem to keep repeating the false claim.

Officers Were Not Killed On January 6
While some aspects of the commentary are correct in that a strong group of individuals did escalate things by breaching the Capitol, they did not kill five police officers.
The five officers referenced by Biden protected the Capitol during their service, but none were killed on January 6th.
- Officer Brian Sicknick died of a stroke the day after the riot and his death was ruled by “natural” causes and not “hastened by an injury.”
- Officer Howard Liebengood died by suicide on January 9th.
- Officer Jeffrey Smith died on January 15th due to suicide.
- Officer Gunther Hashida was found dead on July 29th due to suicide.
- Officer Kyle DeFreytag was found dead by suicide earlier in July.

Biden has already been fact-checked on his false claim, but repeated it anyway.
Democrats have been so desperate to equate Trump supporters to cop killers through the Capitol riot that on the anniversary of that day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a moment of silence for some of those mentioned above and included officer Billy Evans, who actually was killed at the Capitol – only it was months later during an attack by a Nation of Islam follower.
Bloomberg helped Pelosi spread that false news:

• Jeffrey Smith
• Howard Liebengood

It is important to remember that a total of four people died during the Capitol riot – none of them police officers – but only unarmed Air Force veteran and avid supporter of former President Trump, Ashli Babbitt was actively killed.
As of this publication, there are currently no left-leaning organizations that have bothered to address President Biden’s claim that five police officers were killed in the Capitol riot.
He has not been deplatformed by social media for spreading misinformation. And of course, he won’t be.
