For years, The American Conservative has marketed itself as a “right-wing” intellectual outlet. But a Loomer Unleashed investigation shows that the American Conservative’s leadership, advisory board, and board of directors are stacked with Never-Trump operatives who have spent years attacking President Donald Trump, amplifying Democrat narratives, and actively sabotaging the MAGA movement from the inside.
In November, Loomer Unleashed exposed that Tucker Carlson sits on the American Conservative’s advisory board, alongside outspoken Trump haters like Timothy P. Carney, Oren Cass, and Charles Marohn.

I’ve continued to investigate the American Conservative’s executive leadership and board of directors. What I found confirms this is a coordinated operation to fracture MAGA, launder anti-Trump narratives, and confuse grassroots conservatives.
Curt Mills, Executive Director of The American Conservative, has an extensive and well-documented history of undermining President Trump.
In July 2025, Mills amplified a New York Times hit piece claiming the Epstein files were “dividing MAGA”—a Democrat media narrative nearly identical to recent talking points pushed by Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie.
One of MTG’s final major acts in Congress was standing beside Massie, Ro Khanna, and House Democrats at a press conference where anti-Trump protesters held signs calling President Trump a pedophile behind them. Loomer Unleashed has already exposed MTG’s ties to Soros-funded Trump haters.

The New York Times article Mills shared featured a photo of MTG with a caption reading: “For Hard-Right Lawmakers, Trump’s Shift on Epstein Is Just the Latest Breach.” The messaging was deliberate.
Curt Mills’ hostility toward President Trump escalated after January 6. On January 7, 2021, Mills published “A Heinous Day in American History,” parroting debunked left-wing narratives and falsely implying President Trump failed to deploy the National Guard, going so far as to suggest Mike Pence was acting president:
“That there is reporting that President Trump initially opposed the Guard deployment, then removed himself from the decision-making process, lends fodder to conjecture that Pence is already effectively operating in an acting presidential capacity.”
Just days later, on January 19, 2021, Mills celebrated Trump’s deplatforming in “Tucker Carlson Makes His First Post-Trump Play,” openly positioning Tucker Carlson, an American Conservative Advisory Board Member, as a post-Trump GOP leader:
“In less than two days’ time, the most powerful Republican… will no longer be the White House… It will quite likely be Tucker Carlson Tonight… Welcome to the Biden years.”
Mills’ Trump Derangement Syndrome continued throughout 2021. In “Have We Finally Reached ‘Peak Trump’?” he argued Trump might not run again, or should be defeated if he did.
When Ron DeSantis launched his shadow presidential campaign, Mills immediately pivoted to boosting DeSantis while recycling establishment attacks on Trump in pieces like:
- “Ron DeSantis, Florida Man, Takes California” (2021)
- “A Defense of Ron DeSantis, Professional Politician” (2023)
Mills even framed DeSantis as a “cleaner” aesthetic replacement for Trump, language ripped straight from donor-class consulting decks and Trump-hating Republicans.
Mills continued attacking President Trump well into his administration, including a December 28 X post criticizing Trump’s Iran strikes, operations that helped stabilize the Middle East and secure hostage releases.
Mills also criticized Trump’s strikes against ISIS in Nigeria following the mass slaughter of Christians. Like Tucker Carlson, Mills has repeatedly shown an alarming softness toward Islamic terrorism while attacking America First military decisions.
Digging deeper into American Conservative’s leadership, I found that George D. O’Neill Jr., an American Conservative Board Member, published “Who’s Behind the Epstein Cover-Up?” using a thumbnail featuring President Trump next to Jeffrey Epstein—a visual smear identical to the narratives pushed by MTG and Massie.
In 2023, O’Neill promoted Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a vehicle for Democrats to retain power, while falsely claiming Trump “didn’t build the wall” and “pushed the vaccine.”
In reality, Trump built hundreds of miles of border wall. Biden, not Trump, imposed federal COVID vaccine mandates
Federal Election Commission records reveal American Conservative Board Member Scott McConnell donated to Barack Obama, ActBlue, and John Kasich, even listing his American Conservative employment on the filings. McConnell’s ActBlue donations during 2019–2020 directly aided Democrats working to defeat Trump.
Another American Conservative Board Member, Robert W. Merry, authored multiple anti-Trump screeds, including:
- “After the Insurrection, Rebuilding the Trump Coalition Without Trump”
- “It’s Time for Conservatives to Dump Trump”
Merry openly labeled Trump “toxic” and insisted Republicans “can’t win with him.” Just more classic Never-Trump talking points from someone with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
There is no organic “civil war” inside MAGA. What we are witnessing is the exposure of fake-conservative institutions—outlets like The American Conservative that are staffed, funded, and guided by anti-Trump operatives laundering left-wing narratives under a right-wing label.
President Trump is ripping the mask off by publicly disavowing divisive figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie. Now it’s time for others to follow.
Every MAGA leader, including Vice President JD Vance, must publicly disavow any association with The American Conservative, including Tucker Carlson’s advisory role.
The infiltration stops now.
America First demands loyalty, not sabotage from within.
