Ex-Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lead prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, who returned to New York University School of Law at the end of the Russia probe in May of 2019, will be headlining a fireside chat/virtual fundraiser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign next Tuesday, June 2nd at 8 p.m. via Zoom.

The Biden campaign announced on Wednesday that the fundraiser would be available to all “guests who RSVP by making a contribution … will be sent instructions for how to join via Zoom,” according to Biden Victory Fund’s invitation.

The video-conference fundraiser will be moderated by former New Jersey attorney general and NYU professor Anne Milgram, with attendees having the opportunity to interact with both attorneys.

It should be noted that Weissmann was also instrumental in building the case against Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chairman.

Prior to the special counsel’s office, Weissmann was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, as well as serving as general counsel at the FBI, according to Fox News.

Weissmann’s work as the deputy of the Justice Department task force leading the investigation and prosecution of more than 30 people in the Enron case, for perjury, fraud and obstruction of justice, including top Enron executives.

“Weissmann also destroyed the former accounting giant Arthur Andersen by pushing a phony criminal case. The Supreme Court eventually overturned it unanimously, but only years later, after the damage had been done,” The Federalist‘s Margot Cleveland reported in March of Weissmann’s misconduct in the Enron case.

General Michael Flynn’s lead attorney Sidney Powell wrote in a 2017 op-ed for The Hill:

Mueller tapped a different sort of prosecutor to lead his investigation — his long-time friend and former counsel, Andrew Weissmann. He is not just a “tough” prosecutor. Time after time, courts have reversed Weissmann’s most touted “victories” for his tactics. This is hardly the stuff of a hero in the law.

Weissmann, as deputy and later director of the Enron Task Force, destroyed the venerable accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP and its 85,000 jobs worldwide — only to be reversed several years later by a unanimous Supreme Court. …

Weissmann quietly resigned from the Enron Task Force just as the judge in the Enron Broadband prosecution began excoriating Weissmann’s team and the press began catching on to Weissmann’s modus operandi.

After the Russia investigation, Weissmann had signed a book deal with Random House Books and also signed a contract with MSNBC as a legal analyst last November.

According to The Washington Free Beacon, “‘If the fundraiser goes forward, I’m withdrawing from MSNBC so I can be in compliance with their policy,” Weissmann said in a Friday night phone interview, in reference to the network’s policy that employees avoid activities “that may create the appearance of a conflict of interest.’”

Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter calling out the mainstream media for remaining silent on the matter and said if the roles were reversed, the media would be heavily saturated with the news.

“Imagine how bad the mainstream media would meltdown if the DOJ lawyer that moved to dismiss the Flynn case left DOJ and hosted a fundraiser for @realDonaldTrump? But because the media worships both Biden and Weissmann….crickets Absolutely Pathetic!”

Rep. Jim Jordan asked on Twitter if Strzok would also be in attendance at the fundraising event saying, “…with special guest Peter Strzok?”

Fox’s Laura Ingraham, upon hearing the news that Mueller’s “pitbull” would be headlining the virtual fireside chat also wondered if Stzrok or Lisa Page would be attending. Ingraham joked, “How about Zoom “Drinks and Dancing with Page & Strzok”? Starts at 5p, as Joe starts to fade by 7:30p.”

“It’s no surprise that a guy who tried to take down the president through the sham impeachment would also help Joe Biden’s campaign,” Trump 2020 Communications Director Tim Murtaugh told Law&Crime via email. “It doesn’t get any swampier than this: trying to stage a partisan coup against the president and then raising money for his political opponent.”
