Oregon Candidate Wrote Fake Racist Letter To Himself, Claimed It “Spiraled”

Georgette July 10, 2020 Democrats, Jonathan Lopez, Oregon, Politics Comments Off on Oregon Candidate Wrote Fake Racist Letter To Himself, Claimed It “Spiraled”

America is so racist… that democrats have to fake their own racist hate crimes. That’s what a failed candidate in Oregon tried… but after he was busted, he claimed that it simply “spiraled out” of control.

Local outet KEPRtv reported:

The former Umatilla County Commissioner Candidate that reportedly admitted to police he sent himself a racist letter after claiming he received it is speaking out.

In an interview with Action News Jonathan Lopez says he regrets writing the letter and is very sorry.

“I do apologize for what I did I do understand and accept that it was incorrect or wrong, by no means or way did I want to gain the election.” Lopez said.

It was only a few weeks ago when he shared the hate-filled letter on his public Facebook page, claiming he received it in his mailbox.

Lopez has since removed the Facebook page.

After investigating the incident Hermiston Police say Lopez confessed to writing the racist letter and filing a false report.

When asked why he wrote the letter this is what Lopez had to say.

“I could say many reasons and of course everybody’s opinions could be different but I have no excuse for it but I can just express how I was feeling and what’s been going on through my mind and I’m not asking that that justifies what I did I’ve just been having hard time since February.” Lopez said.

While Lopez admits the letter came from a painful place, he doesn’t think his letter stunt discredits future racist actions.

“It cannot be used as something to discredit any other possible form or way or act of racial issues reason being is law enforcement their job is to secure and protect everyone. If they start thinking because of one bad apple, in this case one bad situation the rest are bad then they are not going to do their job properly or correct and you know that’s not what they are here for.” Lopez said.

Police say Lopez could be charged with a misdemeanor for the incident.

Breitbart News reported:

Jonathan Lopez, an unsuccessful local candidate in Umatilla County, Oregon, has confessed to penning an anonymous racist letter to himself last month, police revealed this weekend.

Lopez, who is of Latino heritage, claimed to have discovered a letter addressed to him filled with racist slurs on June 23, which reportedly included the warning that he and other “Mexicans” were “not welcome here,” according to KEPR-TV. However, he has now fessed up to being the author of the hateful message, the East Oregonian reports.

“The time spent on this fictitious claim means time lost on other matters, not to mention it needlessly adds to the incredible tension that exists in our nation today,” Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston told the newspaper.

“Our investigation has shown that Mr. Lopez wrote the letter himself and made false statements to the police and on social media,” Edmiston wrote. “The end result is a verbal and written admission by Mr. Lopez that the letter was fabricated.”

He said the case would be forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s office for review for initiating a false report, a Class A misdemeanor in Oregon.

Lopez shared a picture of the letter to his Facebook page and has since deleted it. “Don’t waste your time trying to become anything in this county,” it said. “[W]e will make sure you never win and your family suffers along with all the other f–king Mexicans in the area!”

In his comments on the purported hate mail, Lopez claimed that he “holds no resentment for whomever wrote this.”

“I’m just simply heartbroken for the lack of knowledge, education, and respect missing,” he stated. “I pray for you and wish you prosperity in your life.”

Lopez lost a primary election for a seat on the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners in May 2020.

Attempts by The Associated Press to reach Lopez were not successful. He told the East Oregonian that he meant to speak with Edmiston about racism in Umatilla County and use the letter as an example of the type of racism people experience.

“I never meant to file a report, it just kind of spiraled out,” he said in the written admission acquired by Edmiston. Lopez said he “never meant to mislead” the public with the fabricated message.

In other words, many people argue, Lopez is just sorry he was caught, and would have been happy to play the victim if he hadn’t .
