Report: Marjorie Taylor Greene Sees Herself as Trump’s VP Pick in 2024

NBC News reveals multiple sources believe MAGA Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is seeking to place herself at the forefront of Donald Trump’s selection for Vice President in 2024.

NBC cites two people who have spoken to Greene about her future plans – Steve Bannon, a former top aide to Trump, along with another unnamed source – who believe she is seeking to get on the Republican ticket with the former President.

“This is no shrinking violet, she’s ambitious — she’s not shy about that, nor should she be,” Bannon said.

Paraphrasing the late political reporter Cokie Roberts, he added, “When MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back.”

The second source told NBC News that Greene’s “whole vision is to be vice president.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene For Vice President

Such reports that Marjorie Taylor Greene is seeking to be Vice President would explain why she has consistently gone along with Trump and new House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

It seems an obvious attempt to prove she’s not quite as fringe as the Lauren Boeberts and Matt Gaetzes of the world while showing she is willing to go along with the more lucrative political position of the day.

The report seems to concur with that view.

“That goal (vice president) is at the heart of Greene’s recent efforts to rebrand herself as a politician who can stand astride the divide between the party’s hard-liners and its establishment wing,” the sources told NBC News.

Locking arms with McCarthy has been a politically lucrative venture for Greene. She’s been named by McCarthy to the House Homeland Security and Oversight Committees, as well as most recently to the House select subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic.

Greene’s 2024 Aspirations

It would also explain Greene’s recent alleged bathroom shouting match with Boebert as well as her very public jab at Gaetz. She’s most assuredly trying to set herself apart from other MAGA representatives.

Greene last week, mocked Gaetz for trying to barter for concessions from McCarthy and declared herself “the leading MAGA voice in Congress.”

Trump announced his 2024 campaign shortly after the midterm elections in November but has yet to indicate who he’d be leaning toward as Veep.

The unnamed source told NBC News that while Marjorie Taylor Greene sees herself as vice presidential material, they also think Trump views her in the same manner.

“The source, who has ties to Trump but spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations, said he also believes Greene would be on Trump’s shortlist,” NBC reported.

A new Harvard Caps Harris survey conducted between January 18th and 19th shows that in a hypothetical matchup between Trump and President Biden, he comes out on top 46% to 41%.

Would adding Marjorie Taylor Greene to the ticket help or hurt those numbers?
