San Francisco State University planned to host a webinar entitled, “Whose Narratives? What Free Speech for Palestine?” This webinar was going to be the University’s second attempt to hold known terrorist Leila Khaled. SFSU tried to host the radical Islamist back in September but each platform they tried to use cancelled her and would not allow her to speak. While free speech and the open market of ideas are of the utmost importance, we cannot allow speech that calls for violence. Leila has called for an intifada multiple times throughout her life; which is a literal call to violence against the Jewish people and Israel.
SFSU’s first attempted, in September 2020, to hold this designated terrorist and encountered heavy pushback. They tried to host her on Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube. Stopantisemitism.org, a group of Jewish people on Twitter, and many other Jewish organizations planned a successful counter-attack, their pleas were heard by Big Tech and Social Media. Each time the event tried to change platforms, it was instantaneously reported and was blocked from each respective avenue.
Leila Khaled made history in 1969 by being the first woman to hijack a plane heading towards Jerusalem. She is an active leader of the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine (PLFP), a known terrorist organization; as well as, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian National Council (PNC).
The ADL designates a page for her, that describes her in her own words. Leila Khaled, they explain, is,
“well-known for her role in the hijacking of two civilian airliners, TWA Flight 840 in 1969 (bound for Tel Aviv from Rome) and El Al flight 219 in 1970 (traveling from Amsterdam to New York City).
In 1997, PFLP was designated as a terrorist organization by the United States Department of State, which cites the group as having carried out “large-scale international attacks in the 1960s and 1970s, including airline hijackings that killed more than 20 U.S. citizens.” PFLP is also responsible for numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians in Israel and the West Bank, including a bomb attack that killed 17-year-old Israeli Rina Shnerb in 2019 and a shooting and meat cleaver attack that claimed the lives of four worshippers in a Jerusalem synagogue in 2014.”
She is considered something of a martyr to the Palestinian cause. In actuality, she is a violent terrorist who should not be allowed to share her thoughts on killing Jews, Americans, and starting war with Israel. She is a dangerous woman who supports Hamas and the Muslim Brootherhood.
San Francisco State University has tried multiple times, today being the most recent, to allow Leila to speak under the guise of “freedom of speech,” and the First Amendment. This narrative is being used by radical Islamists all over the U.S. in order to share their calls for violence. Many Americans are being radicalized within the country and are carrying out acts of violence. The most recent example being, Noah Greene, a follower of Farrakhan, who crashed his car into a barrier in front of the capitol and lunged out with a knife. Unfortunately, a capitol police officer was killed in this attack, as well as, the perpetrator himself.
Calls for violence are not protected speech. She was scheduled to hold a conversation with a panel at Noon. This event has already been cancelled by: Eventbrite, Zoom, and Facebook has deleted the event from its page.

They continue, “The webinar is also co-sponsored by the Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA) and the University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI), and will also feature Professor Sean L. Malloy from University of California (UC), Merced and the original panelists of the September event. ‘San Francisco State University is once again sponsoring a webinar featuring notorious plane hijacker and PFLP terrorist Khaled, this time in partnership with UC Merced. Just as we did with SFSU’s previous attempt to host Khaled, The Lawfare Project has notified Zoom and trusts them to continue to comply with the law and their own Terms of Service by refusing to provide material support — here, in the form of its video conferencing service — to a member of a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, as is prohibited by 18 U.S.C. § 2339B,’ Brooke Goldstein, Executive Director of The Lawfare Project told The Algemeiner in an e-mailed statement.”
Before the event could even start, it was cancelled.
