Yorkshire, Virginia’s Annual Lighted Boat Parade had a surprise winner this year when a boat decorated with a “Let’s Go Brandon!” theme and featuring “FJB” took the top score, but was later disqualified as the rules state the contestants cannot be involved in political speech.
Bill Berger’s “Southern Rock” boat was a hit with people in the town, but was informed two days later that his prize would no longer count after reconsidering the political nature of his entry.
Berger told WAVY News 10, “They had the awards ceremony, and they presented me winning the best in show and 48 hours later I got the phone call I was disqualified…They said my boat was too political.”
Too bad, as the viral phrase has been trending in a lot of places lately among Americans upset over President Joe Biden’s disastrous first year in office. It’s certainly better than the original chant, at least in any family-friendly context, though it well communicates the growing belief that Biden would be better off leaving the White House.
If recent approval polls are any indication, the accuracy of the phrase continues to increase nationwide. While Republicans have disapproved of Biden as president before he even entered office, Democrats and Independents are increasingly wishing they could take back their vote after seeing what has happened in 2021.
The unity Biden promised has happened. Lately, many would settle for a speech that is even coherent. If people knew the leader of our nation would be a walking gaffe machine, it’s a lot less likely millions of people would have stood in line to punch his ticket on the ballot.
The Build Back Better theme hasn’t been helping either. Instead, inflation is skyrocketing, gas prices are the highest since Biden was vice president, the military is a mess and the nation is in the struggle of its life fighting for freedom from increasing vaccine mandates and government overreach.
Diversity isn’t really getting any better under Biden, despite his promises. When everything becomes about race, it seems to make racism worse. The current critical race theory nonsense pushed in public schools shows that leaving the left in charge of diversity is more like letting the inmates run the prison. It’s only making an existing problem worse.
But at least we’re almost done with the first year. The bad part is that at the current rate, it’s hard to imagine the nation making it three more years (or God help us, seven years) before a new president is in the White House. That’s why conservatives are fighting like mad to take back power next year in the House, hoping to slow the radical bills Democrats have been pushing through Congress this year.
It’s won’t fix everything, but it’s a start. Maybe we can even get Berger to run for something. He deserves more than an award being taken away from him for standing for America and speaking up about the political nonsense happening in our nation.
